RulesAll divisions are governed by current FIH rules. Cal Cup Junior Rules Modifications Youth games U8, U10 & U12 will be playing 6v6 format. Youth games U14 will be playing 7v7 format. Safety of all players on the field is the priority. U8 - U10 - U12 divisions play with the USAFH approved Penn Monto "mini" Hockey Ball. This ball is regulation size, but reduced weight, which allows ball to move faster, especially on grass surfaces, and easier for youth to control. U8 Division There will be no goalies in this division. No coaches or spectators behind either goals or end lines. No coaches allowed in the circle (D) during any point in the game. No short corners. A free hit for the offending team will be awarded at the top of the circle directly outside the circle. If a coach impedes the circle at any point a verbal warning shall be given. If the coach impedes the second time the coach shall be issued a green card and must be replaced with another coach or adult. The stick may not be raised above the waist at any time during the game. No penalty strokes, free hit rule applies. Long corners will be taken at the half line directly up from where it exited the end line. The ball must move 5 meters before entering the circle at any time within the opposing half. The ball may not be raised off the ground at any point in the game including a shot on goal. U10 Division No coaches or spectators behind either goals or end lines. No coaches allowed in the circle (D) during any point in the game. If the coach impedes the second time the coach shall be issued a green card and must be replaced with another coach or adult. The stick may not be raised above the shoulder at any time during the game. Goalies are not required in this division. Penalty stroke are allowed. FIH rules apply. Long corners will be taken at the half line directly up from where it exited the end line. The ball must move 5 meters before entering the circle at any time within the opposing half. The ball may only be raised off the ground for a shot on goal. FIH danger rule applies. U12 and U14 Boys & Girls Standard FIH rules apply. Long corners will be taken at the half line directly up from where it exited the end line. The ball must move 5 meters before entering the circle at any time within the opposing half. No coaches are allowed on the field at any point in the game. Goalies are not required in these divisions.
